First Nationwide Student-produced Television Channel

The CampusEAI Consortium and Internet2 today announced the deployment of the OPEN Student Television Network, the first nationwide student-produced television channel. Through this collaboration, OPEN Student Television Network will now reach the over three million users at 220 Internet2 member research and education institutions, in addition to the 34 state education networks which have access to
theInternet2 Abilene network. Abilene is a nationwide high-performance backbone network which operates at a speed 20,000 times faster than the average household broadband connection.

Initiated by CampusEAI Consortium and Internet2 members including Case Western Reserve University, Indiana University, Ohio State University, Michigan State University, University of Connecticut, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, University of Kansas, Emory University, Syracuse University, University of Southern California, University of Nevada Las Vegas, Emerson College, Carnegie Mellon University, and Washington University in St. Louis, the OPEN Student Television Network is an initiative that delivers student-produced television shows as a television channel and video-on-demand
